Tesla Cybertruck's Day Out: First Public Display
The Tesla Cybertruck has made its first public appearance in public. A prototype of the electric pickup truck was displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s reopening in Los Angeles.
Cybertruck Features
Since its launch, the Tesla Cybertrucks has been one of the most talked-about vehicles. The truck is like nothing that came before, with its sharp edges and metallic finish through-out. The futuristic glass, the heptagon style rims, and the uncommon overall design are sure to turn heads.
The prototype is 231.7 inches long, 75 inches tall, and 79.8 inches wide. It incorporates a unibody design, the Exoskeleton, as Tesla puts it, which is made by cold-rolled stainless steel body panels.
The wheels, while massive, are regular wheels with a rugged tire and an aero wheel cap. There are no side mirrors on the vehicle. A closer look inside reveals that there are cameras and screens to look back at the traffic.
Cybertrucks Available to the Public
The Tesla Cybertruck is now available for pre-order. With a down payment of US$100 per pre-order, Tesla generated over US$25 million in the first week of the unveiling itself. The first Cybertrucks will be handed over to their rightful owners in late 2021.
At the unveiling of the Cybertruck in November 2019, Elon Musk, CEO and co-founder of Tesla, said, “Trucks have been the same for like 100 years. We need something different, and we need sustainable energy now. To solve sustainable energy, we have to have a pickup truck."
Musk has since been spotted several times in LA driving the Cybertruck with manufacturer’s plates. This means that while the truck isn’t road-ready, it can be taken out for testing.
