Two goals from Arsenal talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did it for the Gunners.

Chelsea drew first blood within five minutes of the contest, thanks to Christian Pulisic, but Aubameyang will not be denied his ticket to next season’s European League.

He leveled it for Arsenal with a picture-perfect finish from the penalty spot in the 28th minute, shortly after he was taken down by opposing captain Cesar Azpilicueta. 

The Gabon striker then danced past his defenders in the 67th minute and let his left foot break the tie. Just like that, Aubameyang successfully redeemed Arsenal from a difficult eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

Continuing Legacy

The victory at the deserted Wembley Stadium was particularly sweet for Mikel Arteta, whose name will remain etched into Gunners history books after this win. 

After replacing Unai Emery just in December, Citizen TV reports that Arteta became the first person to both captain and manage Arsenal to triumph in an FA Cup Final. 

Arteta raised the trophy twice as an Arsenal player, and he’s ready to collect more accolades in his first managerial role.

“I think it’s even better winning this than as a player, he revealed to BBC.

“It’s such a special day. Hopefully, we made a lot of people happy. The players worked extremely hard. Thank you to all our staff and the people upstairs who made the decision to give me this incredible opportunity to manage a club that I have in my heart.”

Bad Fortune for Wolves, Spurs

It wasn’t a field day for everyone, though, and we’re not just talking about Chelsea.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal’s come-from-behind win derailed Tottenham’s dreams of going straight into the group stage. They now have to battle it out in the second qualifying round of the competition.

As bad as that is, the Wolves are in a worse position. A Chelsea victory over Arsenal would have granted them a spot in the second qualifying round. Instead, they are now on the cusp of completely missing out on European football. Their only saving grace right now would be to win this season’s Europa League.
