NBA 2K21 Drops
NBA 2K21 is finally here, and it packed a fair amount of buzz on Day 1.
One Twitter user obviously had a wonderful launch day, tweeting “I ain’t gonna lie, I’m loving NBA2K21.”
Hours after that ecstatic tweet was sent out, another one came in. It read: “1st day of @NBA2K and I’ve come to the conclusion it is the worst 2K I’ve ever played.”
Others claimed they got the Dame version despite ‘paying for the Mamba Forever Edition.’ Meanwhile, developer Mike Wang is busy handing out tips to those who can’t figure out the new shooting mechanism:
Most other users, though, went off-Twitter today, since they were too busy exploring 2K’s new features, or taking on the All-Time Celtics as Kobe Bryant in the demo.
New Career Path to Explore
According to Forbes, the MyCareer story provided new and huge improvements with new additions such as NCAA collegiate basketball:
“In NBA 2K21, this year’s narrative, The Long Shadow, tells the story of Junior – the son of a beloved baller who faces the challenges of trying to make it to the NBA, balancing legacy while carving his own path through high school to college. Making this journey more authentic to real life, NBA 2K21 will feature 10 officially licensed college programs to choose from in the story: Michigan State, UConn, Florida, Gonzaga, Syracuse, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, UCLA, Villanova University and West Virginia.”
Cover athletes Damian Lillard and Zion Williamson were also accompanied by some heavy cameos from Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams, Boardwalk Empire’s Michael K. Williams, Blood Diamond’s Djimon Hounsou, and World War Z’s Mireille Enos.

San Antonio Spurs: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
As for Spurs fans, there is one bit of 2K21-related good news: News4SA reports that Manu Ginobili is back on the virtual hardwood after his first-ever sabbatical on the 2K20 version.
He is featured not just on all classic Spurs lineups, but on the all-time team as well -- as he should be.
However, AirAlamo’s Dylan Carter pointed out that once again, player ratings do not do San Antonio players justice at all.
“If you’re expecting NBA 2K to get things right, you’re in for a world of disappointment year after year,” he began.
For Carter, the biggest blunder was leaving Derrick White with a score of 79.
“Other poor grades include Jakob Poeltl (76), Trey Lyles (75) and Lonnie Walker IV (73). Even with this eight-game sample size of seeding games for developers to truly watch and pay attention to these players, they failed to get it right.”
What a year it’s been for Spurs fans, really. In the most frustrating, twisted, heartbreaking kind of way.
