Conor McGregor has now surpassed Michael Jordan.

No, not in career earnings, apparel sold or litres of whisky drank, but in the number of what we can only call ‘un-retirements’.

Conor McGregor has now un-retired three times, with the announcement today that he will be once again strapping on the 4 ounce UFC gloves to take on lightweight contender, Dustin Poirier, just four months after last announcing his retirement.

UFC boss, Dana White, offered Conor the fight as a take-it-or-leave-it ultimatum, but it is believed that McGregor is still pushing to have the fight staged at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

But White insisted that wasn’t going to happen, insisting “that’s not how it works.”

The pair last fought in September of 2014, with McGregor knocking out Poirier within two minutes of the very first round - you can watch the full fight below.

But six and a half years is a long time in the fight world. 

The Poirier fight will take place on January 23, 2021 at UFC257.
